Virginians should have seen this coming. Democrats, who spent every second of their campaign pretending they care about working families, hit voters with a brand-new payroll tax the minute they took their seats. They talk about “affordability,” but their actions scream the opposite. For hardworking people already stretched thin by Biden’s reckless inflation, this was a slap in the face.
Left-wing politicians swore up and down that they’d lower costs if voters handed over power. Instead, once they took the reins, their first big move was to pass a tax that grabs even more cash from people’s paychecks. The so-called “champions of the working class” are showing their true colors. They’re just another tax-and-spend mob who believe the government deserves a bigger cut of your hard-earned money.
This tax is a real gut punch for small businesses and families. The last thing Virginia needed was another reason for companies to think twice before hiring—or for families to second-guess if they can pay the bills. Yet Democrats didn’t care. Their answer to every problem is always another tax, another fee, and more government control. It’s almost as if they want people struggling so they can step in and “save” them.
Democrats love to blame Republicans for every hardship. But when faced with decisions that actually impact wallets, they don’t hesitate to dig deeper into those same wallets. That’s hypocrisy at its worst—and typical of a liberal playbook written by out-of-touch elites with nothing to lose. Ordinary Virginians are being punished while the political class pats themselves on the back.
It’s time to wake up. Who benefits from these taxes? Big government, globalist interests, and the bureaucrats running the show. Regular people? They get left behind. Progressive promises of affordability and “fairness” always end with the same story: higher taxes and less freedom. Virginia voters need to ask themselves—how many more times will they fall for the same liberal tricks?
