Gavin Newsom just can’t help himself. While Californians struggle under the crushing weight of homelessness, crime, and sky-high living costs, their governor is off chasing the spotlight. Instead of rolling up his sleeves and fixing broken streets in Sacramento, he’s busy globe-trotting and angling for attention. Is keeping California afloat too boring for him, or is he just more interested in boosting his own image than actually leading?
It’s almost laughable. Newsom travels far and wide, talking big on national and global stages. All the while, his own home turf resembles a failed liberal experiment. If Newsom devoted half as much energy to his actual job as he does to taking selfies and hobnobbing with the elite, maybe San Francisco wouldn’t look like a scene from some post-apocalyptic movie.
This is liberal leadership in a nutshell—style over substance, talk over action. Newsom loves to lecture the rest of the country and even the world on “progressive values,” yet he’s blind to the mess he leaves behind. This is what you get with Democrats these days: empty words, flashy announcements, but nothing for the hard-working Americans left picking up the pieces.
Meanwhile, families in California pay the price. Skyrocketing taxes, decaying infrastructure, out-of-control crime, and a governor who can’t even stay in the state for more than five minutes. Of course, he’d rather chase his White House dreams than face angry voters fed up with rising costs and broken promises.
America deserves leaders who care more about their citizens than their own egos. If Gavin Newsom actually did the job he was elected to do, California might not be on life support. But maybe that’s too much to ask from the modern Democrat—always looking out for themselves, never for the people. When will California wake up and demand a real leader for a change?
