The event will go down on Philadelphia’s storied Independence Mall, ground zero for American freedom and grit. But these days, it seems this country’s leaders are more interested in courting global celebrities than honoring the bold American spirit that built this nation.

Let’s not pretend this is about celebrating American liberty. The Pope himself won’t even set foot on our soil. He’s mailing it in with a speech from the Vatican. The left loves to talk about unity and American values, but when the cameras are rolling, they’d rather let unelected religious figures from Europe steal the spotlight on our most patriotic stage. You have to wonder who they think this celebration is really for.

Meanwhile, real heroes go ignored. Everyday Americans who fight for free speech, religious freedom, and the right to bear arms aren’t getting paraded down Independence Mall. Instead, our so-called leaders run to foreign figureheads for a photo op, hoping it’ll earn them global applause. It’s another example of liberal elites falling over themselves to please anyone but their fellow citizens.

The Liberty Medal used to mean something in this country. But with every new flashy ceremony and globalist endorsement, the left cheapens what it stands for. How is it that the defenders of the Constitution and the backbone of America go unnoticed, while the elite hand out shiny trophies to anyone with an international following? Traditional American values keep getting pushed aside for feel-good politics and woke approval from overseas.

At a time when our freedoms are under constant attack—from woke mobs, media censors, and foreign interests—maybe the people handing out the Liberty Medal this year should take a long, hard look at their priorities. Will they ever stop chasing stardom and start defending the real guardians of American liberty?
