New York City just can’t help itself. Now Mayor Zohran Mamdani is rolling out another so-called “safety” plan for schools, and it reeks of the same nonsense that got New Yorkers hooked on anti-congestion tolls in the first place. This time, the target is speed zones—around schools, they say. But who are they really looking out for?
Liberal politicians always spin these schemes as ways to “protect” our kids. Is anyone buying it? Crackdowns on drivers, more tickets, more fines—families are the ones who will pay, not reckless criminals. The truth is, it’s just another excuse to bleed regular Americans dry. All the while, these same leaders keep ignoring bigger, real threats to our children, like violence in schools or out-of-control crime in the streets.
And who stands to benefit? Follow the money. City bureaucrats and their cronies rake in piles of cash from every new speed camera and ticket. It’s never enough for the political class. Despite sky-high taxes, crumbling infrastructure, and soaring rents, they come begging for more at every opportunity. It’s the same story with “anti-congestion” tolls, too—working families get squeezed, while government fat cats cash in.
Liberals love to pretend they’re the champions of fairness. But all this does is punish responsible citizens, while politicians keep lining their own pockets. They want us to believe these measures are about “safety” and “justice,” but they’re really about control and cold hard cash. The hypocrisy couldn’t be clearer: ignore violent crime, go after soccer moms doing the school run.
This isn’t about protecting kids. It’s another money grab, plain and simple. New Yorkers deserve real solutions—not more empty promises and overpriced tickets. Maybe next time, the mayor should focus on keeping our streets safe from actual criminals. Or does that not fit with the globalist, big-government agenda?
