Senator John Thune should know better. Conservatives everywhere are tired of watching Republican “leadership” roll over and let the left trample on the basic right to fair and secure elections. Thune’s latest move—shrugging his shoulders at the effort to actually secure America’s ballots—proves once again that weak Republicans are just as dangerous as radical Democrats. The SAVE Act is supposed to keep our elections honest. It ensures that only American citizens vote. That should be common sense for anyone who loves this country. But now we see Thune saying he doesn’t have the votes to push it forward, refusing to even fight with the talking filibuster.
Let’s be honest—Democrats know that keeping elections loose and unchecked helps them fill the ballot boxes. That’s why they always fight against any law that demands proof of citizenship. The left relies on chaos. Instead of protecting American voters, their friends in Washington always protect non-citizens and illegal voters. And now, Republicans like Thune are too busy playing nice to stop it.
It’s jaw-dropping to see Republicans back down when the American people are begging for leaders to stand up. This country is flooded with illegal immigrants, thanks to open-border Democrat schemes. Now, the same globalists are drooling for non-citizen votes. The SAVE Act is one of the last lines of defense, but Thune won’t even try the old-school, talking filibuster to block the left’s plan. Apparently, standing for hours and hours is too much work for a cushy politician.
What happened to the GOP that believed in courage? We sent these people to Washington to fight, not to make excuses. While Thune and his cronies claim their hands are tied, the left is making sure our elections get hijacked. All it takes is backbone. Instead, we get surrender from so-called Republicans who care more about their cocktail party invites than America’s future.
The writing is on the wall. If you aren’t tough enough to fight for the right to an honest election, maybe you don’t belong in the Senate. Maybe it’s time for a new crop of Republicans who actually want to win. Because if this is how we “protect” American voting rights, why bother calling ourselves a nation at all?
