The silence coming from American universities in places like Qatar is deafening. When Hamas committed their brutal attacks on October 7, most people with any shred of decency spoke out. The rest of the world called it what it was: horrific, evil, and beyond the pale. But not an American university campus in Doha. Nope—they refused even to circulate a statement condemning the bloodshed as “abhorrent and horrific.” Why? Because powerful voices in the Qatari government told them to sit down and shut up.
This is what happens when American schools chase global cash and cozy up to regimes that clearly don’t share American values. These universities are supposed to stand for free speech, human rights, and, yes, simple moral clarity. Instead, they bow and scrape to foreign officials, desperate to “stay aligned” and avoid rocking the boat. It’s not about education anymore—it’s about protecting their golden overseas deals.
Liberals love to preach about “inclusivity” and “justice” back home, patting themselves on the back in their safe campus bubbles. But when Middle Eastern money is on the line, all those big values evaporate. Suddenly, the so-called principled defenders of freedom can’t even call out terrorism for what it is. The hypocrisy couldn’t be clearer.
This should outrage every American. Our universities are being muzzled by anti-American, authoritarian forces. It’s not just cowardice—it’s complicity. How are these schools supposed to teach the next generation about right and wrong when they can’t even send an email calling out terrorists that slaughter civilians?
Here’s the question the left refuses to answer: What’s the point of an American campus if it turns into a mouthpiece for foreign tyrants? If a dollar from Doha buys more loyalty than truth, maybe these ivory towers deserve to crumble.
