There’s something astonishing about media elites who bash the United States day after day, enjoying all the comforts this country has to offer, and still acting shocked when everyday Americans call them out. Joy Reid is the latest example. She seems to look at America—especially when Donald Trump is in charge—with nothing but fear and loathing. According to her, this country suddenly becomes a dystopian nightmare any time someone stands up for American greatness and puts the people of the United States first.
Reid’s latest display of nonsense didn’t stop at attacking Trump’s America. She actually managed to heap more praise on a brutal foreign regime than on her own homeland. Instead of voicing support for freedom, democracy, or the Constitution, she chose to compare America unfavorably to the Islamic Republic of Iran. You might wonder if she’s trying out for a spot on Iranian state TV. It’s bizarre. Most Americans can see through this far-left fantasy, but the liberal media eat it up.
Maybe Joy Reid should pack her bags and make Tehran her new home. If she admires Iran so much—and thinks Americans have it so bad under Trump—it would be easy to find a decent apartment in the Iranian capital right now. It’s almost as if these self-proclaimed voices of the people don’t realize what life is really like under a theocratic regime. Maybe she’ll learn the hard way—good luck criticizing the government once she’s there!
The truth is, the worst thing most liberals can imagine is an America that doesn’t bend the knee to every globalist demand, one that controls its borders and isn’t ashamed of its own history. Reid’s sour grapes and dramatic comparisons are exactly what real Americans have grown tired of. These liberal talking heads spend their lives enjoying the freedoms conservatives fight for, then smear them as “paranoid” for not buying into leftist propaganda. All while heaping praise on countries run by dictators.
America isn’t perfect, but it remains the best nation on earth. If left-wing elites like Joy Reid want to keep running down the U.S. while daydreaming about distant tyrannies, they should have the courage to live by their own standards. What’s stopping them from renouncing their citizenship and living their radical dreams abroad? Maybe the real reason is simple: They know deep down there’s nowhere else on earth as free as the United States.
