It’s no secret that blue states are bleeding residents. Hardworking Americans are tired of sky-high taxes, rising crime, and cost-of-living through the roof. Now, left-wing state leaders are scrambling to patch the holes in their sinking ship. Their latest desperate scheme? Make it even harder for taxpayers to leave.
Look at what’s happening in Washington. The ruling Democrats aren’t content fleecing citizens on the way out, like California’s infamous exit tax. Instead, they want to trap you before you even list your house for sale. Thanks to a new ordinance in Thurston County, homeowners will soon need a so-called “home energy score” just to put their place on the market. Bureaucrats will pick apart your insulation, electrical system, water heater, and more—then decide if your American Dream is green enough to be sold to someone else.
This isn’t about helping regular people lower utility bills. If it were, there would be no mandatory government inspection, no $350 assessment fees, and no threat of freezing the entire market because there aren’t enough government-approved assessors. The working class gets the bill, while the favored low-income groups get a pass. This is all about control.
Realtors are sounding the alarm. If nobody’s available to do the assessments, then no homes can be sold. Friends, that’s not a bug in their plan—that’s the point. The left can’t stand the sight of families escaping their failed policies, so they’re putting up as many roadblocks as possible. They would rather sabotage the housing market than admit their own policies are driving people into red states by the thousands.
Get ready, because Olympia looks eager to copy Thurston County. This will spread like wildfire if voters don’t wake up. The left talks about “affordability” while making homeownership, and even moving, more expensive and complicated for everyone—except, of course, those they want to buy votes from.
This is textbook liberal hypocrisy. They punish success, reward failure, and always claim it’s “for the greater good.” How much longer will Americans put up with this absurd, anti-freedom nonsense, when the exit signs from blue states are flashing brighter than ever?
