California is in deep trouble, and nobody’s better at pretending otherwise than Governor Gavin Newsom. This week, Newsom tried once again to flip reality upside down, acting like the state isn’t squeezing every drop out of its hardworking citizens. He may want to put on a good show, but the facts are brutal: California’s top income-tax rate just hit a staggering 14.4%. That’s the highest in the nation. Maybe if Newsom spent less time preening for cameras and more time protecting taxpayers, his citizens wouldn’t be fleeing his so-called “golden state” in droves.
Liberal leaders will twist themselves into pretzels to avoid owning their failures. For Newsom, that means dodging responsibility for policies that empty wallets and chase jobs away. It’s the same old story: Tax and spend, tax and spend—then act shocked when the bill comes due. Only in Democrat-run California do regular folks pay sky-high rates while politicians brag about “progressive” values. Progressive for who? The rich elite? Hollywood millionaires? Because regular, middle-class Americans sure aren’t seeing any relief.
It’s not just California’s sky-high taxes wreaking havoc. The left-wing media do their best to cover up decades of fear-mongering from climate alarmists like Paul Ehrlich. Remember when Ehrlich predicted mass starvation and doom for our planet? He’s been proven wrong again and again, but the globalist press barely mentions it. They just nod along, never holding their own to account. Meanwhile, families struggle for honest information and get fed more scare tactics designed to control—not to inform.
The hypocrisy is rich. California Democrats always claim to stand for the little guy, but somehow the little guy is always left holding the bag. Their “compassion” looks a lot like massive spending, higher taxes, and stylish sound bites for cable news. It’s all smoke and mirrors so their wealthy donors and woke buddies can feel good about themselves, while taxpayers foot the bill.
There’s a reason Americans are bailing out of blue states like never before. Newsom and his liberal allies trade in fantasy, all while working families get hit with the reality of endless government overreach. If this is what “progress” looks like, then the future doesn’t look so golden after all. How much more are Americans supposed to take before enough is enough?
