California liberals have done it again. Governor Gavin Newsom is busy spending over a hundred million taxpayer dollars on a bridge for mountain lions, while the real needs of actual human beings get ignored. The so-called “wildlife crossing,” originally promised at a much lower cost, has now ballooned to a staggering $114 million. And for what? So that fewer than twenty mountain lions have a shot at finding a mate across the freeway. You can’t make this stuff up.
And let’s be honest: the excuses coming out of Sacramento are beyond laughable. We’re told this monstrosity of a project is about stopping mountain lions from “inbreeding.” Never mind skyrocketing crime, homelessness out of control, or wildfires devastating neighborhoods year after year—California’s top priority is matchmaking for cats.
What these out-of-touch elites won’t tell you is that this wildlife bridge is just a golden ticket for even bigger disasters. That bridge won’t just help a handful of cats cross the road—it’ll act as a fast lane for wildfire, helping flames jump the freeway right into suburban communities. But do liberal leaders care when citizens’ lives and homes are at risk? Of course not. Their hearts bleed for animals, but humans get tossed aside like yesterday’s news.
Meanwhile, everyday Californians are asked to just sit back and accept the waste, the double standards, the shrinking wallets. Globalist interests and eco-activists always seem to get their way, while the people paying the bills end up with empty promises and more headaches. Taxpayers are footing the bill for a bridge that delays, doubles in cost, and solves a “problem” no one was even talking about five years ago.
This isn’t environmentalism. It’s classic liberal incompetence. Millions blown so a few big cats can have their own high-rise highway, while Main Street falls apart. Maybe the next step is a five-star hotel for raccoons. Is this what progressives call “priorities?”
