The left just can’t help but meddle, even when faced with a nominee who puts American security first. The Senate Homeland Security Committee advanced Markwayne Mullin’s nomination for Homeland Security Secretary, but it was hardly a landslide. In fact, the vote was tighter than a drum: 8 to 7. It’s amazing how close these decisions come when the safety of our citizens hangs in the balance.
Let’s be clear—this narrow margin shows just how weak the Democrats have become when it comes to real leadership and real solutions. They love grandstanding about “security,” but when it comes down to actually putting effective people in charge, they nearly stop it in its tracks. Only with the help of one Democrat did Mullin’s nomination squeak through. That’s the only reason the left didn’t fully block someone willing to stand up for America’s borders.
Why all the fuss? Because Markwayne Mullin doesn’t play by the globalist, open-borders playbook. He’s not some career bureaucrat who bows down to D.C. elites or panders to woke mobs on social media. Mullin is known for pushing real border enforcement, and the left can’t stand it. They want weak policies that let drugs, crime, and chaos seep across our borders—then they act surprised when American families pay the price.
It’s always the same story: Liberals wring their hands over “compassion” while ignoring the very real danger their policies invite. They say they care about ordinary Americans but routinely try to stop anyone who actually puts American interests first. Mullin is a threat to their cozy D.C. club, and they know it.
When half the committee wants to block someone just for defending America’s borders, it’s no wonder the country is in trouble. The Democrats—and even some so-called Republicans—would rather play politics than protect their own citizens. If they keep fighting against leaders who put America first, maybe it’s time for voters to fight back at the ballot box. How much longer will we let the left gamble with our national security?
