Hochul begs the rich she chased away to save New York from her own tax disaster

New York’s liberal leaders are finally admitting what conservatives have known for years: sky-high taxes drive people out—and with them goes the state’s lifeblood. Governor Kathy Hochul is now on her knees, openly begging the wealthy New Yorkers she helped chase away to please, pretty please, come back so she can bleed them dry to fund her favorite “generous social programs.” It almost sounds like satire, but this is the reality of Democrat mismanagement.

For years, the rich have been demonized and loaded up with crippling taxes. Then, when COVID hit and the world learned that work could happen from anywhere, these same hard-working New Yorkers simply packed their bags and headed south. Can you blame them? Why stay in a state that treats you like an ATM but gives nothing back?

Now even Democratic leaders like Hochul are forced to admit the ugly truth: their punishing policies have shredded the tax base. Wall Street is looking to Texas. High-earning professionals have found freedom in Florida. It turns out people prefer places with lower taxes, less government meddling, and real opportunity. Who knew? Apparently not the progressives running New York into the ground.

Meanwhile, New York City’s spending is out of control. The city is burning through more than $80,000 per person just to handle the homeless population. That number has nearly tripled in just six years. Democrats’ solution isn’t less spending or more accountability—it’s even higher taxes on families and death taxes that would make the government your biggest heir. These are the same “progressive” geniuses who want you to trust them with your future.

When a liberal governor is left to beg for the rich to come back after driving them away, maybe it’s time for New Yorkers to beg for new leadership. This is what happens when you punish success, reward failure, and expect the rest of us to pick up the tab. How bad does it have to get before the voters say enough?
