California Governor Gavin Newsom loves nothing more than to take shots at free states like Texas and Florida. He calls their tax policies “regressive” and claims they’re a dystopian nightmare for working people. But here’s a reality check that liberals always seem to ignore: people are rushing to leave California, not moving there. That’s not opinion—it’s common sense and basic economics.
Let’s talk U-Haul rates. Want to know why it’s so expensive to rent a moving truck from California to Texas or Florida, but dirt cheap the other way? It’s because the moving trucks keep heading east, following the flood of people desperate to escape the madness of California. Hardworking Americans are clearly sick of sky-high taxes, suffocating regulations, and woke policies making life unaffordable.
Meanwhile, Newsom and his friends pretend it’s the other states that are the problem. But if Texas and Florida are so terrible, why are California plates showing up in Houston and Miami? It’s not rocket science. Families want lower taxes, more freedom, and opportunity—not more lectures from out-of-touch elites sipping lattes in Sacramento.
The left can’t hide from the facts. Moving costs don’t lie. Californian policies are driving away the very people needed to keep the state running—teachers, cops, nurses, middle-class taxpayers. The progressive idea of “tax the rich and spread the wealth” sounds good in a college classroom, but in the real world, people pay attention to results. When a state is bleeding taxpayers, it’s a sign the so-called utopia isn’t working.
Liberals can scream “fact-check” all they want, but reality just steamrolls them every single time. If California is such a progressive paradise, why is everyone leaving? Maybe Newsom should try renting a U-Haul out of his own backyard—he’d see firsthand the price of failure.
