Liberal lawmakers are scrambling once again. This time, government incompetence is showing up right where hardworking Americans feel it the most—at the airport. Thanks to the endless gridlock in Washington, some airports are seeing lines stretch a mile long. Travelers are being squeezed, delayed, and treated like cattle. Why? Because government workers—those same union-protected, Democrat-leaning bureaucrats—are refusing to do their jobs during a partial shutdown.
Instead of real solutions, the government’s big idea is to throw Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at the problem. That’s right, ICE agents—whose job it is to keep dangerous criminals out of our country and enforce immigration law—are now expected to check bags and wave wands. They aren’t trained for airport security. They’re not supposed to be patting down grandmothers or scolding you about your shampoo bottle. They have more pressing, far more important work to do.
While the open-borders crowd would love nothing more than to defang ICE altogether, now these officers are being pulled away from the border to help bail out airport security lines. It’s the height of hypocrisy. One minute, liberals scream about “abuses” by these brave men and women; the next, they want to stick them behind a metal detector and hope America doesn’t notice the chaos at the border getting worse.
This is what happens when you play globalist games with America’s security. Democrats refuse to fund the very agencies we need—then when the wheels come off, they turn to those same agencies for a bailout. If the Biden administration and their friends in Congress spent half as much time supporting our law enforcement as they do blocking them, maybe Americans would actually get to their flights on time—and our borders would be safer, too.
Let’s stop pretending half-baked fixes like this can ever make up for real leadership. Do you feel safer knowing the people guarding your airport aren’t even properly trained? Or is this one more example of the left selling out your safety and convenience, just to make a political point?
