It seems like California Democrats keep serving up the same flavor of clueless leadership, just wrapped in different billionaire packaging. Tom Steyer—the deep-pocketed liberal who thought he could buy his way into the White House—now wants a shot at running California. But here’s the kicker: When pressed about Gavin Newsom’s performance, Steyer claims he hasn’t been following what Newsom’s been up to. Really? How insulting to the millions suffering under Newsom’s disastrous rule.
This is what happens when radical environmentalists and coastal elites float above the struggles of everyday citizens. For all his talk about saving the planet and fixing inequality, Steyer can’t even be bothered to pay attention to the governor who’s turned the Golden State into a dystopian nightmare of crime, homelessness, and unaffordable living. If Steyer’s not keeping tabs on Newsom, how does he expect anyone to trust him with the state’s future?
Democrats love preaching about “accountability” and “transparency.” But when it’s their own side in power, they suddenly lose their voices—or their memories. Steyer’s non-answer exposes the game: protect your fellow liberals, no matter how much they fail. California’s ruling class covers for each other with a shrug and another expensive campaign ad, while regular folks suffer the consequences.
Let’s not forget, Steyer tried to buy the presidency by crusading for climate change regulations that cripple American jobs while his own investments thrived. Now, he thinks Californians will forget his hands-off approach—and hand him the keys to the state. If he didn’t bother paying attention to Newsom’s trainwreck, why would he do any better himself?
Only in California could a billionaire activist think his ignorance is some kind of virtue. This is the progressive model: globalist donors and pampered elites, deaf to the real pain on Main Street, always ready to cash in or cover up for the next liberal failure. Californians deserve real leadership, not more “out of touch” billionaire experiments. When will they wake up and say enough is enough?
