Chicago’s reckless experiment with sanctuary city insanity has yet again drawn blood. The murder of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman, a bright freshman at Loyola University, is the brutal proof. A young life, full of promise, stolen—because liberal politicians like JB Pritzker put cheap political points over actual safety.
Pritzker and his leftist allies love to parade their “compassion” for illegal immigrants. But where’s the compassion for innocent Americans like Sheridan? Their so-called safe city policies don’t create safety—they give cover to dangerous criminals who exploit a system rigged in their favor. Every time officials shield illegal aliens from justice, they put regular citizens in the line of fire. Sheridan’s death isn’t just a tragic accident. It’s a predictable outcome of policies that clearly value virtue signaling more than the public good.
What’s worse? While families grieve over the consequences, Pritzker and his cheerleaders continue to brag about their “inclusive” Chicago. They act proud of their open-door policies, as if ignoring federal law is a badge of honor. The liberal establishment is more concerned with pleasing the global elites and leftist donors than caring for the folks living and dying in the neighborhoods they claim to serve. Politicians on the left push for weak borders and hand out city protections to those who break our laws—then act surprised when crime spikes and American kids pay the ultimate price.
Liberals paint a picture of sanctuary cities as places of hope and opportunity. The reality is darker. These policies attract criminals who know they can hide beyond the reach of federal authorities. The people running Chicago and Illinois keep sacrificing safety for votes, ignoring the heartbreak their decisions leave behind. They act shocked by tragedy, but refuse to tighten the laws or side with victims. At the end of the day, one has to wonder who these politicians actually work for—the American people, or everyone else but us.
If this latest senseless murder doesn’t force a change, what will? How many more have to suffer for the sake of cheap political stunts? At this point, anyone who still calls Chicago a “sanctuary” isn’t just deluded—they’re complicit.
