Sanctuary City Policies Turn Chicago Streets Deadly—And Democrats Still Refuse to Learn
Another American life, lost forever. Sheridan Gorman, a young college student with her whole future ahead of her, is dead. And her killer? A Venezuelan illegal immigrant who should have never set foot in this country in the first place. The tragedy is a direct result of Chicago’s open-door, sanctuary-city policies. Liberals wave these rules around like virtue badges, patting themselves on the back while our neighborhoods pay the price in blood.
Here’s what happened: An illegal immigrant crossed our border, got caught, and instead of being sent home, he was released. Within weeks, he gets busted for shoplifting in Chicago. Does he face consequences? Of course not. In Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago, and with Biden’s border chaos, lawbreakers are treated like VIPs. Judges and politicians let them walk free. No jail, no deportation, no lessons learned—just a red carpet to commit worse crimes.
The left will spin the same tired excuses. Liberals moan about “statistical truths” and try to paint illegal immigrants as saints. They twist themselves into knots to defend criminals who shouldn’t even be here, while they turn American victims into nameless statistics. Their logic boils down to this: as long as most illegal immigrants don’t kill, it’s fine for our kids to run the risk anyway. Imagine telling a grieving family their daughter’s death was just a price society should pay for progressive politics.
And when pressed about crime and punishment, leftist hacks always dodge. They don’t care if one crime leads to another. Their solution? Blame it all on law enforcement, or guns, or—when they run out of ideas—start ranting about “Orange Man Bad” or Donald Trump. They never answer the real question: how many innocent Americans should die before these sanctuary city politicians admit their policies are a failure?
What’s worse, Democrats refuse to get tough on anyone, illegal or not. They brag about “prison reform” and “restorative justice” but their real goal is to keep criminals out of jail and deportation off the table. Look at cities run by left-wing politicians: crime is exploding, gangs are taking over, and families are scared to walk the streets. The Democrat party cares more about scoring woke points than keeping Americans safe.
Sheridan Gorman’s murder was 100% preventable. If our laws meant anything—if our leaders actually put citizens first—her killer would never have gotten the chance. But that’s not how things work in Democrat-run cities, where illegal immigrants are coddled, criminals get excuses, and innocent lives just become collateral damage.
Why do liberals put foreign lawbreakers ahead of American lives? Maybe it’s time for the left to answer for the chaos their “compassion” has created—or admit that they simply don’t care.
