It looks like Washington’s elite are finally getting a taste of the consequences they so eagerly force on the American people. With the Department of Homeland Security stuck in a dragged-out shutdown, Delta Air Lines has decided to yank the red carpet right out from under Congress. No more VIP perks. No more special treatment. Suddenly, our lawmakers have to deal with airport headaches just like the rest of us.
This mess started because politicians would rather fight about their bloated budgets and backroom deals than do their jobs and secure our borders. For months, everyday Americans have watched in frustration as illegal crossings skyrocket, fentanyl pours in, and bureaucrats bicker over who gets the next big taxpayer check. But now, as Delta turns the screws, these pampered politicians are feeling the heat where it hurts: their own comfort.
It’s almost funny. These are the same folks who love to talk about “equity” and “shared sacrifice”—but when it comes to giving up even a tiny slice of luxury, they whine like spoiled children. The minute their own privileges get cut, suddenly the shutdown is a big problem. It makes you wonder if they’d move a little faster on securing the southern border if it affected their frequent flyer status.
Delta’s move is a breath of fresh air. Why should politicians zoom through airports in private lounges with hot coffee, while the rest of us are left waiting in endless lines, praying our flights aren’t delayed? Maybe if our leaders had to live like normal Americans for once, they’d understand what real problems look like.
Liberals will say this is just a temporary inconvenience, but it highlights everything that’s wrong with the DC swamp. Elites get special perks while hardworking families pay for their failures. The American people should demand that politicians fix the real crisis at hand before they ever think about restoring their luxury travel benefits. Who knows—maybe less pampering in the first-class lounge will finally light a fire under Congress to do their job. If Congress can’t handle losing their perks for a few weeks, what chance do they have of solving the problems that actually matter?
