There’s something sickening about the way America turns its back on victims when their stories don’t fit the left’s favorite narrative. Sheridan Gorman, a bright young college student at Loyola, had her life stolen in a brutal, senseless murder. But you won’t see her name trending, no famous musicians belting out power ballads in her honor. The Hollywood elite remain silent, their designer pins saved for causes that suit their political agenda.
Let’s call this what it is — a tragedy that never had to happen. If liberal politicians actually cared about safety, Sheridan would still be alive. Instead, their soft-on-crime policies have turned our cities into danger zones, putting innocent people at risk every single day. Over and over, their experiments with “restorative justice” and “second chances” have let dangerous criminals roam free, while law-abiding families pay the price.
It’s appalling how the left responds whenever a crime like this rocks the nation. They’ll tie themselves into knots defending the policies that failed, prattling on about “root causes” and blaming everything but their own broken system. Where are the marches or candlelight vigils from the usual activists? Nowhere. Apparently, Sheridan’s life doesn’t score them any political points.
The hypocrisy is stunning. When a tragedy fits the narrative, liberal celebrities fall over themselves to virtue-signal. But when it’s an innocent student killed because of weak leadership and open chaos, they just shrug. The double standard is obvious. The globalist crowd would rather talk about foreign issues than tackle the blood on their own hands.
How much longer are we supposed to accept this? How many bright futures have to be destroyed before left-wing politicians admit their failures? Maybe when their gated communities aren’t enough to keep them safe, they’ll finally wake up. But for families like Sheridan’s, it’ll already be too late. Why should any American trust a system that turns its back on the people it’s supposed to protect?
