Chicago leaders let criminals roam as citizens pay the deadly price

Chicago’s leftist leaders have been playing dangerous games for years, telling Americans that we can’t “jail our way out of violent crime.” Tell that to the family of a murdered student. Liberal politicians, with their naïve slogans and hollow moralizing, are exactly why a criminal illegal alien gets total freedom to roam—right up until an innocent life is lost.

Just look at Chicago now. Lawrence Reed—a man with a rap sheet longer than a Rush Limbaugh monologue—was arrested late last year after literally setting a woman on fire on a public train. You’d think Chicago’s government would take action. But nope, the city just kept turning the other cheek, rolling out the red carpet for repeat offenders and, of course, for those who shouldn’t even be here in the first place.

Progressives in Chicago brag about their “compassion.” But where is the compassion for the American citizens being terrorized by criminals? Where is the outrage when violent migrants slip through the cracks, thanks to open-border fanaticism and soft-on-crime policies? Every time a left-wing mayor waxes poetic about alternatives to jail, another thug is unleashed on the streets to hurt our fellow Americans.

Let’s be honest: jailing violent criminals works. The evidence is right in front of us. If Chicago’s so-called leaders had the stomach to lock up threats to public safety, instead of coddling them, maybe a young student would still be alive. Instead, the city lets criminals keep committing horrors while hardworking families live in fear. This is the dark reality of liberal governance—the criminal gets more rights than the law-abiding victim.

How many innocent Americans have to suffer before Democrats admit they’re wrong? When will leaders stop siding with criminals and start protecting their own citizens? Maybe when it’s finally their own neighborhoods on the line. Until then, they’ll keep pushing the same deadly nonsense. Is this the America we want?
