While families worked hard to keep roofs over their heads, Democrat officials and their cronies were out back wheeling and dealing, cutting dirty deals to snatch away homes and play real estate kingpin.
One of the main players, a former county deputy treasurer, wasn’t just minding his own business. He allegedly used his insider access to swipe at least 15 homes, worth over a million dollars combined, from honest, hard-working Detroit families. How’d he do it? With help from a so-called “taxpayer assistant” at the Treasurer’s office and the director of a liberal nonprofit supposedly dedicated to helping low-income residents. These aren’t just “bad apples”—they’re the rotten fruit of a tree planted by years of Democrat corruption and mismanagement.
Here’s how this crooked game worked: homeowners would fall behind on property taxes—often thanks to sky-high rates championed by left-wing officials. Instead of working to help these families, insiders were allegedly paid off to pull homes from the foreclosure list and sell them privately to their friends. Fake paperwork, under-the-table payoffs, and backroom deals: call it Democrat governance in action. The very people who claim to stand for the downtrodden were busy enriching themselves, spitting in the faces of the very community they claimed to protect.
