Christians Forced to Cut Deals for Holy Week While Elites Stay Silent

It’s about time the so-called leaders of the world started respecting Christian traditions. News just broke that Israeli police and one of the top Catholic leaders in the Holy Land have finally, after back-and-forth, agreed to let Holy Week celebrations go forward in Jerusalem’s Old City. Think about that for a second. In the birthplace of our faith, Christians are forced to “cut a deal” just to honor the holiest week on the calendar.

For years, the liberal elite and globalist bureaucrats have looked the other way while Christians are sidelined—and sometimes outright attacked—in their own sacred places. But let’s face facts. If this were any other religion, the media and progressive politicians would fall over themselves to defend worshippers’ rights. Yet when it comes to Christians, especially in the Middle East, suddenly it’s all bureaucracy, regulations, and roadblocks.

This move by Israeli police might sound like a win, but let’s not pretend it’s generosity. It’s a step toward basic decency, nothing more. Christians shouldn’t have to negotiate for their freedom to worship. Look at how the woke crowd pushes “inclusive” policies everywhere—except when it means protecting ancient Christian communities. Where are the Hollywood celebrities, the UN experts, and the professional activists? Nowhere to be found. Apparently, Christian rights don’t fit their political narrative.

The hypocrisy is staggering. We hear endless lectures from liberal talking heads about tolerance and diversity, but when real Christians in real danger cry out for help, the silence is deafening. Instead, the left would rather talk about “colonialism” and “settler violence” while ignoring the fact that Christians are being shoved aside in the cradle of Christianity itself.

This latest deal is just more proof that Christians around the world are on their own. If we don’t speak up and demand respect for our faith, no one else will do it for us. If celebrating Easter in Jerusalem takes a backroom bargain, what hope do ordinary believers have anywhere else? Maybe it’s time to ask why the so-called guardians of “human rights” only show up when it fits their agenda.
