Italy and Spain betray America again as European elites snub US military in shocking move

America’s supposed “friends” in Europe are showing their true colors—again. Italy just turned its back on the United States by refusing to let our bombers land at a base in Sicily. This isn’t some minor snub. This is another blatant example of weak European leaders cozying up to globalist pressure instead of standing with the nation that has protected them for generations.

Let’s not fool ourselves—this follows right behind Spain’s similar refusal. Apparently, when the going gets tough, the left-leaning elites in Europe decide to bend over backward to appease anti-American activists and bureaucrats in Brussels. They’re more afraid of angry tweets from climate protesters and leftist mobs than of abandoning the alliance that keeps the free world safe.

What happened to loyalty? For decades, America has poured billions into European security. U.S. troops risk their lives to defend NATO territory. Now, when America needs support to project strength in the face of Iranian aggression, our so-called allies get cold feet. Italy and Spain are sending a clear message: don’t count on them when things get serious.

This should be a wake-up call. Washington keeps playing nice, handing out defense contracts and foreign aid checks to these countries. In return, their governments give us nothing but lectures, red tape, and half-hearted apologies. Letting American military planes refuel on Italian soil shouldn’t be a tough decision—unless you care more about Brussels and Tehran than about America.

Let’s call it what it is: hypocrisy and cowardice from a European elite that loves to preach about values but refuses to stand up when it matters. Our leaders should take note next time these “partners” come looking for help. Maybe it’s time we ask—if Europe won’t back us now, why should we keep carrying them on our backs at all?
