The American media is in a full-blown crisis of credibility, and make no mistake—it’s a crisis of their own making. For decades, the once-revered press slowly slid down a slippery slope of bias and spin. But things didn’t suddenly implode; rather, they collapsed gradually, then all at once starting in 2016. The rise of Donald Trump shattered the fragile illusion of objectivity the press had long claimed to uphold. Suddenly, the media dropped any pretense of fairness and brazenly took sides. Journalism stopped being about truth or facts. It became all about protecting the Democratic Party narrative, no matter the cost.
Once upon a time, the press fancied itself as the defender of the people—highlighting corruption, holding power accountable, and shining light on uncomfortable truths. Those days are long gone. Now, the media bows to the Deep State, the establishment bureaucracy, and left-wing agendas. They are more interested in comforting the comfortable elites than afflicting the powerful. The newsrooms are bursting at the seams with ideological zealots who see their job as shaping minds, not informing them. Their “reporting” reads like activist sermons designed to demonize conservatives and sanitize liberals. The truth? It’s now a casualty in the battle for political dominance.
The proof is in the polls. Trust in the media has plummeted from 70% in the 1970s to less than one-third today—and that’s being generous. Americans see the media as the least trusted institution in the country, worse than Congress itself. Why? Because for years, journalists have made a calculated choice to withhold facts that might hurt Democrats or derail their narratives. The Russia-collusion hoax that lasted years and sucked up thousands of stories? Pulitzer-worthy nonsense that only deepened public skepticism. And yet, newspapers double down, clinging to their leftist echo chambers even as subscriptions tank and employees storm out in protest when the editors fail to toe the progressive party line.
Businessmen who have taken over media outlets are starting to crack the whip, pushing for a “balanced” editorial approach after years of skewed left-wing propaganda. But can billionaires like Jeff Bezos or Patrick Soon-Shiong really educate a newsroom infested with radical ideologues addicted to grievance and bias? Skepticism is warranted. These aren’t journalists chasing the facts—they’re activists chasing power. The digital revolution destroyed the old business model where media sold audiences to advertisers. Now advertisers chase audiences, and if the media refuses to adapt by embracing the full spectrum of truth rather than cherry-picking facts to protect Democrats, their descent will continue unchecked.
This isn’t journalism. It’s political theater, masquerading as news. The American people see through the charade, which explains the trust collapse. The media elite’s refusal to self-correct ensures they’re digging their own grave. If they truly want to survive, they must stop deciding which facts the public “shouldn’t” see because they cast Democrats in a bad light. Otherwise, their credibility hasn’t hit rock bottom yet. How much longer will Americans put up with a press that serves the powerful instead of the people? Until that day comes, don’t expect the media’s credibility to rise—they killed it with their own hands.
