President Trump is showing the world what real leadership looks like. He’s ready to stand up for America by holding Mexico accountable to a water-sharing treaty that dates back to 1944. Mexico agreed to share water from the Colorado and Rio Grande rivers, but now they are falling short. Trump isn’t going to let them get away with it. If Mexico doesn’t start following the rules, they’ll face a stiff 5% tariff on their goods. That’s real action, not just empty talk.
Liberals, of course, are already crying foul. They’ll say Trump’s tough stance will ruin relations with our southern neighbors. But when it comes to protecting American resources, shouldn’t we stand firm? It’s about time a president put American citizens first instead of pandering to globalist interests—even if it means strong words and even stronger actions. The left had no problem when their darling NAFTA robbed American workers, yet suddenly they’re concerned about fairness in trade.
Mexico needs to uphold its end of the bargain. Treaties aren’t just suggestions you can ignore. Yet, predictably, liberals and globalists are more worried about Mexico’s feelings than American farmers and ranchers who count on that water. When it comes to standing up for America’s resources, Trump’s tariff threat is just what’s needed to protect our land and livelihoods.
Some will say this move is reckless, but that’s just because they don’t have a spine to stand firm on any issue. Our nation can’t keep getting short-changed while others skate by. If Mexico wants access to our markets, they need to play by the rules. Trump isn’t afraid to step on toes to make sure they do.
The question we should be asking is: If we’re not going to defend our own interests, who is? Under Trump’s leadership, we’re finally getting an America that stands proud and tall. It’s time we fight for what is ours—without apology. Will the left ever learn that weak negotiations lead nowhere?
