Christmas is under attack, and it’s not even subtle anymore. The latest example of this widespread anti-Christian sentiment is seen in shopping malls that are now too timid to even utter the word “Christmas.” Language police, much? They’d rather use generic, hollow phrases instead of acknowledging President Donald Trump and his dedication to keeping Christ in Christmas. This shameless liberal agenda aims to wipe out any trace of faith from the public square. While it used to be a whisper campaign, it’s now a roaring effort to dismantle Christian traditions and beliefs.
Remember when American culture welcomed diverse celebrations? Now, it seems anyone who even dares to mention “Merry Christmas” gets a slap on the wrist from the politically correct brigade. We’ve got politically motivated word police acting like it’s a crime to say “Christmas.” If that’s not the epitome of hypocrisy from the same folks who preach tolerance and inclusiveness, then what is?
In one absurd case, Portland, Oregon, decided that they couldn’t even call a Christmas tree by its name. Instead, they simply dubbed it “The Tree.” How original. This political correctness gone wild is not only laughable but downright offensive to the millions of Christians in this country and around the world. Take that kind of nonsense to task because if we let this slide, soon anything linked to faith could be scrubbed from public life.
Hollywood’s David Spade spoke up on this issue, and he’s on to something big. It’s not just Christmas trees losing their name; it’s about the general disdain for Christianity that’s going unchecked. Even though Spade claims more spiritual than practicing Christian, he sees the disproportionate hit Christianity is taking globally, and he’s right. Christians around the world face persecution, and here we are debating whether it’s okay to call it a Christmas tree. Our priorities are beyond skewed.
So this season, as we watch these liberal ideologues sucker-punch Christmas, remember: strength in unity. We shouldn’t let a mall dictate how we celebrate our faith. Would it really hurt to call it a Christmas tree? Do we have the courage to stand up to these attacks, or will we let political correctness eradicate our cultural and religious identity? Maybe it’s time to remind everyone: Christmas isn’t just another day on the calendar, it’s an integral part of our American tradition.
