Trump’s DHS shuts down fake amnesty and kicks 15K Ethiopians out fast

The days of endless “temporary” amnesties are finally coming to an end—at least under the leadership that dares to put America first. The Department of Homeland Security, under President Trump’s direction, has shut down the sham that is Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ethiopian nationals. For years, this so-called “temporary” amnesty has been a legal trapdoor, turning short-term refuge into de facto permanent residency. It was never meant to be a backdoor to citizenship, yet the Biden administration shamelessly abused it to flood the country with millions of foreign nationals, undermining every effort to secure our borders.

Make no mistake: this move is about restoring some semblance of integrity to an immigration system so thoroughly hijacked by open-borders fanatics. TPS was supposed to protect people in genuine, temporary danger. But when “temporary” stretches into years—sometimes decades—that’s not protection; that’s a free pass to abuse American generosity and erode our sovereignty. Conditions in Ethiopia no longer pose serious threats, and yet Biden’s DHS fattened the rolls to over 15,000 Ethiopian nationals alone. Across the board, the previous administration ballooned TPS beneficiaries over 1.2 million. This wasn’t compassion—it was mass amnesty by executive fiat.

Now, Trump’s team has done what any responsible government should: stopped kicking the can. They’ve given those without lawful status 60 days to leave voluntarily, plus a little incentive to self-deport. After that deadline? Enforcement kicks in. Any Ethiopian overstaying will face arrest and deportation, with the added consequence of being barred from future reentry. This is the kind of tough but fair policy that Biden’s DHS won’t touch with a ten-foot pole. The current administration refuses to crack down on illegal immigration, turning our border into a sieve for low-wage workers and potential criminals, all while rewarding them with temporary amnesty programs.

And it’s not just Ethiopians. Trump’s DHS is cleaning house on TPS designations across the board—Burmese, Hondurans, Venezuelans, Haitians—all facing the ax. This is how you defend American workers and taxpayers: by ending handouts to those who overstay their welcome and exploit our immigration loopholes. Meanwhile, Biden and his globalist cronies are busy expanding those loopholes, flooding the system with millions more who have no legal right to be here. Their open-border ideology blatantly ignores the strain on our schools, hospitals, and law enforcement.

The bigger picture is clear. The left doesn’t want borders. They don’t want law. They want a new America—one open for business to the world, no matter the cost to our citizens. Trump’s DHS is fighting back, reasserting the rule of law and putting American interests first. This fight isn’t over, and every inch is hard-won. But the message is loud and clear: temporary amnesty is temporary. Not a step on the path to citizenship. Not an excuse for endless illegal stay. Not a slap in the face to American sovereignty.

If America is serious about securing its future, it must follow this lead. Will the country accept endless open borders and amnesty theatrics, or will it finally take a stand for law, order, and fairness? The time to choose which America we want is now.
