Woke activism leaves US figure skater floundering in Olympic flop

When you let politics take over your sport, don’t be surprised when you end up in last place. That’s exactly what happened to Amber Glenn, the American figure skater who calls herself a proud “woke” activist. She made headlines for attacking conservatives and complaining about the supposed struggles of LGBT people in America under Trump. Yet when it came time for her to skate at the Milan Cortina Olympics, she melted under the pressure—finishing a lackluster 13th in the women’s short program.

Instead of focusing on skill, discipline, or her country, Glenn chose to make her entire Olympic story about left-wing politics. She tossed around buzzwords and wore her “woke” label like a badge of honor. But all the hashtags and virtue signaling in the world can’t hide a weak performance on the ice. Isn’t it funny how being “brave” and “progressive” doesn’t help you win medals?

Here’s the truth: athletes used to represent more than just themselves. They stood for their nation. But the left keeps turning everything into a platform for political grandstanding. The Olympics aren’t supposed to be a therapy session for political activists from California. Americans deserve competitors who aim for gold, not who chase after applause from activist cliques and globalist media.

It’s no secret the left prefers empty gestures to actual results. They scream about oppression while standing in front of global cameras, all while ignoring their own privilege. Glenn’s teary reaction after a 13th place finish wasn’t courage. It was a perfect symbol of failed liberal priorities—putting self-interest and ideology above hard work and country. Is there any better example of what happens when you trade grit for woke slogans?

Maybe it’s time U.S. athletes remember what made America great: a commitment to excellence, patriotism, and perseverance. When will they realize nobody hands out medals for “Most Woke”? Maybe the next batch of Olympians should just stick to skating, skip the politics, and actually compete for America—for once.
