For far too long, city leaders like Zohran Mamdani tried to ban encampment sweeps, acting like letting homeless camps fester was some act of compassion. Anyone living near those “tent cities” knows the truth—law-abiding citizens end up trapped in filth and chaos, while activists pat themselves on the back. It’s a disaster created by left-wing policies, where average families get told their safety and dignity come dead last.
Now, with Mamdani finally coming around on the issue, there’s good reason for hope. He’s realized what the rest of us have known all along: you can’t just let people take over public spaces. Letting sidewalk shantytowns grow only encourages more dysfunction and lawlessness. This is basic common sense, the sort that City Hall seems to forget every time a new “progressive” trend comes around.
It’s infuriating how liberals act like clearing these camps is some kind of cruelty. In reality, it’s the only way to restore order. Streets and parks are for everyone—not just for activists’ pet projects. Real compassion means getting people off the ground and into actual help, not leaving them at the mercy of addiction, disease, and criminal elements that thrive in these camps.
The left tried to make homelessness a political weapon, using soft-hearted slogans while turning cities into disaster zones. But they never have to deal with the garbage, the needles, and the endless noise on their own doorsteps. Globalist politicians and woke elites hide behind gated communities while normal Americans get stuck cleaning up the mess.
Mamdani’s change of heart better be more than a PR move. Ordinary people are fed up with the incompetence and hypocrisy of liberal city government. Is it really so hard to do the right thing? Maybe this time, sanity will catch on—and New Yorkers can finally reclaim their neighborhoods from the madness of failed progressive experiments.
