Mayor Brandon Johnson has blood on his hands—and this week, a woman’s body turned up as the latest casualty of his dangerous war on public safety. Chicago’s Far South Side, once watched over by advanced gunshot-detection technology, became a killing field because Johnson decided woke politics mattered more than saving lives.
Let’s be honest: When Chicago had ShotSpotter, first responders had a fighting chance to find gunshot victims before it was too late. Now, after Johnson let the city’s contract lapse last September, the death toll just keeps rising. Seventy-seven people—each with family and dreams—are now dead under circumstances that could have played out differently if life-saving alerts had been sent to police. Instead, this woman laid undiscovered on a lonely, gravel stretch, gunshots echoing into the silence that liberal leadership created.
Democrats claim ShotSpotter was somehow “racist” and “unreliable.” Johnson and his pals say policing Black and brown neighborhoods is the real crime. But while they spout their woke nonsense, it’s actual Black and brown Chicagoans who are losing their lives. Apparently, to the left, imaginary claims of “over-policing” outweigh the real blood on their streets. Just look at the mayor’s record: he calls efforts to remove violent criminals “unholy.” If that’s not backwards, what is?
Of course, leaders like Pritzker just shrug and say crime is part of city life. Tell that to the families who’ll never see their loved ones again. Liberals love to talk “social justice,” but their policies create chaos and pain. They’d rather score virtue-signaling points with globalist elites than keep American families safe.
Is this what Democrats call justice? Chicago deserves better than clueless politicians more worried about headlines in elite newspapers than about bodies lying cold on city streets. Maybe it’s time to stop letting criminals run the show—and start holding the real enablers accountable.
