America’s colleges have finally been forced—yes, forced—to take a real look in the mirror. At the urging of the Department of Education, no less than 31 universities have pulled the plug on a so-called “PhD Project” that flaunted open racism in the name of progress. For years, these elite institutions have yammered about equity and inclusion, but the truth is far uglier: they’ve been propping up programs that exclude students based on nothing but the color of their skin. This is the ugly face of academic leftism—a movement obsessed with identity politics instead of real education.
It’s about time someone in the federal government stepped in. Conservative voices have been warning about this rampant discrimination for years, but the liberal university elite hid behind flowery language, pretending to help minorities when they were actually picking winners and losers based on race. How is that any better than the discrimination our country fought so hard to leave behind? The left claims to hate racism—except the kind they create, fund, and defend.
Let’s not ignore the hypocrisy here. Colleges love to lecture everyday Americans about fairness while making secret deals with racist projects right on their own campuses. It’s pure double-speak. They’re quick to attack anyone who questions their “woke” policies, yet they cozy up to organizations that trample over the very civil rights they claim to defend. They thought they could get away with it, counting on a compliant media to look the other way. Well, not anymore.
The truth is, these universities were afraid of losing their federal money. That’s what finally made them cave. For all their smug virtue signaling, when pressed, they’ll drop any program if cash is on the line. Where was their “moral courage” then? Maybe next time, they’ll think twice before partnering with groups that judge students by their ancestry instead of their minds.
Here’s a thought: if the left’s beloved “diversity” means setting up programs that keep some Americans out, maybe their version of progress isn’t progress at all. This country was built on the idea that anyone can succeed—regardless of race, gender, or background. America doesn’t need more segregation from university elites. It needs a return to merit, fairness, and real opportunity for everyone. Wasn’t that the whole point of civil rights in the first place?
