Oakland’s so-called leaders have made a national spectacle of praising anti-police, “defund” policies. Now, reality is catching up with the people who once fueled the chaos. Case in point: Barbara Lee, the mayor who cheered on gutting law enforcement, just got a personal taste of her own medicine. Her SUV was snatched right from City Hall. Crime is so out of control in her own backyard, even she isn’t safe.
It’s almost poetic. For years, Lee and her liberal buddies campaigned to cut police budgets and let criminals run wild. They told hard-working Americans that law enforcement was the enemy and “public safety” could somehow survive without basic security. Meanwhile, activists and globalist interests cheered them on from their gated communities, far away from the mess.
Now, even the pampered politicians can’t escape the disaster they created. With violent crime spiking, businesses closing, and law-abiding families fleeing Oakland, what did they think would happen? This is what happens when woke ideology trumps common sense. The only thing in short supply is accountability.
Americans everywhere should take note: This isn’t just about one stolen car. It’s about the utter collapse of public order in Democrat-run cities. The same people who claim to care about justice don’t even bother protecting their own neighborhoods—or, apparently, their own vehicles. Who’s looking out for the regular folks who don’t have taxpayer-funded SUVs or security details?
Maybe Mayor Lee will finally wake up to the damage her anti-police agenda has caused. Or maybe, like most liberals, she’ll blame everything except her own failed policies. Here’s a question: If even the mayor can’t keep her car safe at City Hall, what hope is left for everyone else in Oakland?
