New York liberals just don’t get it. Governor Kathy Hochul is pushing a plan to bail out New York City, shoveling more taxpayer money into the hands of politicians who never learn from their mistakes. Now, top Republicans in Albany — led by Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt — are telling her to slam the brakes. Enough is enough. Hardworking New Yorkers are sick and tired of footing the bill while out-of-control City Hall politicians burn through cash and demand more.
The liberal playbook is embarrassingly predictable: run the city into the ground, hand out freebies, balloon the budget, and then go crying to the rest of the state for a handout. Now New York City is facing a brutal revenue gap of well over five billion dollars in just two years. And who do the Democrats think should pay for their mess? Everyone but themselves, of course.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani wants Albany to swoop in and save him from the consequences of his own reckless spending. This is the same crowd that puts illegal immigrants before citizens, slaps businesses with new taxes and regulations, and wastes money on pet projects for the radical left. And when it all falls apart, they’re shocked — absolutely shocked! — that the money’s gone.
Meanwhile, small towns and hard-working folks upstate have to tighten their belts and make do. They don’t get special bailouts from the governor when times are tough. Liberals love “fairness” until it’s time to pay their own bills. Their “solution” is always the same: squeeze the middle class, ignore responsibility, and blame everyone else for the disaster they created.
If Hochul caves to the left yet again, just watch — this so-called bailout will only fund more failure. New York taxpayers deserve better than to bankroll City Hall’s incompetence. Why should the rest of the state pay for failed policies in a city run by politicians who value woke optics over real leadership? Maybe it’s time to let the liberals clean up their own mess for once — or is that too much to ask?
