Robotaxi dreams wrecked by Hochul as New York Democrats panic and stall futuristic plans

Governor Kathy Hochul just threw a wrench into New York City’s big robotaxi dreams. The progressive powers that run this state now can’t even agree with each other. They promised the public cutting-edge, driverless taxis zooming down city streets. But when it came time to actually deliver, Hochul slammed on the brakes. Why? Because when she looked for support from the usual left-wing crowd in Albany, she found nothing but empty stares and cold feet.

This is classic liberal leadership—big talk, no follow-through. They love their futuristic visions, but can’t get the basics right. Never mind that our city is falling apart thanks to crime, filth, and soaring costs. Instead, liberal lawmakers were busy fantasizing about a robotaxi fleet to distract from their disasters. Reality caught up with them fast. When real people get a say, these technocrat schemes crash and burn every time.

Let’s be honest: this isn’t about public safety or “listening to stakeholders.” It’s about New York Democrats not wanting to risk political backlash. They’re terrified of angry unions, cab drivers, and anyone else who actually works for a living. Hochul’s team tried to hide behind consultations, but it’s clear—they have no confidence, no support, and no clue how to run a city.

The globalist push for automation keeps getting pushed by elites who never ride a bus, let alone hail a cab. They want to turn American cities into automated playgrounds while the working class gets left behind. Liberals pretend to care about jobs, but they’re the first to sell out the little guy to the robot overlords, as long as it looks “progressive” on paper.

In the end, Hochul couldn’t even get her own party off the fence. Maybe someone in Albany finally realized that New Yorkers want safe, working streets more than they want another Silicon Valley experiment. Here’s a question for Governor Hochul and her friends: If you can’t even roll out a robot car, how can anyone trust you to drive this state?
