There’s a sickness running through America, and you don’t have to look any further than Winchester, Virginia, to see it in action. This is the very city where George Washington—yes, the first President—launched his legendary career. You’d think a place with roots that deep in American history would have some respect for the values that built this country. But the local Planning Commission just slapped patriots in the face by refusing to add the Pledge of Allegiance to its meetings. They call it “unnecessary pageantry.” Seriously?
Liberal leaders love to talk about unity and respect, but when it comes down to practicing what they preach, their priorities are crystal clear—anything but America. Why bother taking ten seconds to honor the flag when you can push woke agendas and bend over backwards for globalist interests? It’s as if showing a little pride in our country is now seen as embarrassing. The committee claims the Pledge is just performative, but you know what’s really performative? Their endless virtue-signaling and hollow words about “diversity” while they trample on tradition.
This isn’t just some random act of bureaucratic stupidity. This is part of a larger assault on American values, all across the country. If a town like Winchester, steeped in the legacy of George Washington, turns its back on the flag, what hope is there for the rest of us? The left says patriotism is exclusionary. But what is more divisive than ripping away the very thing that’s supposed to bring us together—a moment to honor the nation that unites us all?
The Planning Commission’s decision is a slap in the face to veterans, patriots, and taxpayers who still believe America is worth standing up for. Washington didn’t risk his life so we could wring our hands over so-called “pageantry.” He fought for a country where citizens are proud to declare their loyalty and love for freedom. Now, that basic gesture is tossed aside as outdated or offensive, simply because some elite bureaucrats can’t stomach American pride.
Maybe the real “unnecessary pageantry” is pretending we can have a strong, united country without honoring what makes us American in the first place. If flying the flag and pledging allegiance are too much for today’s leaders, maybe they should step aside and let real patriots take their place. If Winchester can turn its back on George Washington’s legacy, who’s next? Is the Star-Spangled Banner next up on the chopping block?
