This is what happens when a government is more afraid of criminals than it is committed to protecting innocent people.
Let’s be crystal clear: this isn’t some fluke. Mexico’s law enforcement did an “operation” in Puerto Vallarta, which only led to scared tourists and a city on edge. Here we are, watching a beautiful tourist town get swallowed by cartel violence while the government acts like a powerless bystander. Liberals and globalists keep telling us Mexico is a “safe and modern” neighbor. Really? Is this what modern safety looks like? Families from the United States, trapped in their hotel rooms, all because criminals call the shots.
The situation should be a wake-up call, not just for would-be tourists, but for the soft-on-crime crowd in our own country. When governments stop crushing crime, this is the result: fear, lockdowns, and a surrender of basic freedom. Puerto Vallarta is just the latest example of what happens when leaders refuse to get tough. Meanwhile, open-border apologists act shocked when cartel violence spills into our own backyard.
Of course, the travel industry and their globalist pals would rather folks just look the other way. They assure everyone that paradise is waiting, as if telling Americans to shelter in place on vacation is totally normal. The U.S. State Department will probably put out a politely worded memo, but don’t expect any real action. It’s all talk. We shouldn’t be surprised—weak leadership always ends this way, whether in Mexico or closer to home.
Americans need to decide: are we going to keep playing tourist in cartel country while politicians promise everything is fine? Or are we ready to stop pretending and demand real security—for ourselves, our neighbors, and our nation? Because hiding in your hotel room might be the new “normal” south of the border, but it sure doesn’t have to be ours.
