There are victories, and then there are the kind that shake the world awake. That’s what Team USA did when they slammed the door on Canada to grab not just one, but two Olympic gold medals in hockey. For the first time in nearly half a century, the American men’s team took home gold, putting an end to that 46-year drought that hung over us since the legendary Miracle on Ice. And just to drive the point home, both the men and women beat Canada 2-1, and both wins came in nail-biting overtime. Try to dream up a more patriotic flex. You can’t.
But while most Americans were celebrating like true patriots, you know who wasn’t? Besides the Canadians, curled up with their maple-leaf pillows, it was once again the usual suspects—American liberals. The type that never seem happy unless America is losing or apologizing. Not even when our country snatches one of the biggest wins in sports history.
Then there are the Canadian sore losers. The head coach of Team Canada—who also happens to coach the Tampa Bay Lightning, no less—rushed out with excuses worth less than a broken stick. His main gripe? He didn’t like the three-on-three overtime rule. Supposedly, it’s not “real hockey” when you take a couple players off the ice. But here’s the thing: those are the rules, and everyone knows them going in. If Canada wanted to win, they should have done it in regulation. Instead, they had three future Hall of Famers out there and still couldn’t finish the job. America did. End of story.
Let’s not forget the critical moment when Team USA had to survive while two men down, facing a five-on-three power play. America kept the Canadians out. No amount of post-game whining will erase that. All Canada did was prove what the world’s always suspected: when America wins, our northern neighbors melt faster than snowflakes in spring.
But nothing, and I mean nothing, looked more absurd than liberals here at home whining that American victory is somehow unfair or unearned. They would rather root for anti-American narratives than join in on a true display of grit, teamwork, and national pride. That’s the globalist, woke mindset for you—never missing a chance to criticize America and side with Olympic crybabies.
America brought home gold, fair and square. Maybe it’s time the left learned what real winning looks like. Because Team USA just reminded the world—when Americans play by the same rules as everyone else, we still come out on top. Isn’t it funny how it’s always the losers demanding a rule change?
