As antisemitism explodes across America and the world, Pennsylvania’s Democrat governor, Josh Shapiro, is suddenly front and center—desperate to hold his community together. But where was all this urgency when woke policies and leftist campus mobs first unleashed their hate?
Recently, Shapiro made a show of embracing his Jewish faith, stepping up in front of thousands of young people from around the globe. The crowd cheered like he was a rock star. Clearly, faith still means something to these kids, maybe more than the politicians who supposedly lead them.
Let’s not kid ourselves. The surge in hate crimes against Jewish Americans isn’t happening in a vacuum. Leftist activists fan the flames, pretending to care about justice while scapegoating Israel and the Jewish people. Meanwhile, their friends in the media and academia bend over backwards to normalize the chaos.
Shapiro’s faith matters. But what really matters is action, not photo ops or sound bites. Conservatives have always defended the right of every American to worship freely, while liberal bureaucrats and globalist elites lecture us about “equity” as mobs vandalize synagogues and threaten Jewish students on campus.
It’s way past time for Democrats to clean up the mess they helped create. People of faith, citizens who still believe in America, should not have to beg for protection while cowards excuse antisemitism or blame Israel for defending itself. If Democrats keep coddling the radicals, who will they call when the mob turns on them?
