Virginia Democrats Never Learn: Targeting Responsible Young Adults in Gun Grab Scheme
Here we go again. The Democrat elites in Virginia are rolling out another breathtakingly bad idea, proving once more how far removed they are from common sense. This time, they want to strip adults under 21 of their right to own, buy, or even transport common firearms. Yes, you read that right—any law-abiding adult under 21 would be treated like a child when it comes to defending themselves. Bureaucrats in Richmond want people who can vote, serve in the military, and pay taxes to be disarmed and defenseless in their own hometowns.
These out-of-touch politicians are pushing House Bill 1525 to stop 18-to-20-year-olds from owning handguns and so-called “assault firearms.” Forget that these young men and women are already considered adults by every other measure of the law. Somehow, holding a rifle is more dangerous than driving a car or enlisting to serve this country? That’s liberal logic for you—it never adds up.
The real kicker? This bill attacks people who already own these firearms, criminalizing regular citizens overnight just because they happen to be in the “wrong” age bracket. It’s lazy, punitive, and tramples the rights of young adults who have done absolutely nothing wrong. All the while, violent criminals will continue to ignore these rules, just as they always do. The only ones who actually suffer are the law-abiding kids who are suddenly told they can’t protect themselves at home or in public.
Some gun rights advocates are raising the alarm—and for good reason. These Democrats love to pretend they’re tackling “gun violence,” but everyone knows this isn’t about safety. This is about power and control. It’s easier to target a whole group of regular folks than to actually address the broken culture and failed policies that let crime thrive. The left’s favorite plan always boils down to punishing everyone for the crimes of a few. Meanwhile, politicians and celebrities move around with armed security—proving the rules are only for the “little people.”
Let’s not forget the Constitution. Recent Supreme Court decisions have made it very clear: any gun control law has to fit in with our country’s history and traditions. There’s no way this trash gets past that standard. Back in the founding years, 18-year-olds fought for freedom with muskets in hand. Now Democrats want to tell them to just “trust the police” and hope for the best while the lawbreakers have free rein.
Deep down, Democrats know this nonsense won’t actually make anyone safer. But that’s never been the point. They want headlines, not real results. And the only thing they’ve accomplished is to make their contempt for personal liberty plain as day. If Virginia’s gun-grabbers get their way, which state is next on their hit list? At what point does the left admit they’d rather have helpless citizens than responsible adults?
