The liberal media circus is back at it, folks. This time, the Left is throwing a hissy fit because the U.S. men’s hockey team had the nerve to attend President Trump’s State of the Union. God forbid American athletes show just a hint of patriotism or—brace yourself!—respect for the office of the President. You’d think Team USA skated off with the last slice of avocado toast the way progressives are whining.
But here’s the best part: liberals, as usual, tried to stir outrage where none existed. They latched onto a harmless locker room phone call, twisting every word into some imagined scandal. Their real crime? Not watching the game, not understanding the stakes, and definitely not grasping what true unity looks like. The men’s team beat Canada for gold in a win reminiscent of the legendary Miracle on Ice, ending a medal drought in spectacular fashion. Instead of celebrating the moment, leftists found offense—because that’s all they know how to do.
The liberal peanut gallery expected a big scene from Ellen Hughes, mother to Team USA’s superstar brothers Jack and Quinn, because she also works with the women’s team. They crossed their fingers for another viral lecture about “equity” or “diversity” after a joke from President Trump about inviting the women to the speech. Sorry to disappoint, but Ellen Hughes showed something foreign to the other side: common sense. She spoke for millions of normal Americans by focusing on the one thing that matters—country over politics. Unity. Not left, not right, just Americans rooting for Americans.
It’s incredible how out of touch the Left is with real life. Hockey fans of all stripes, men and women athletes, showed nothing but support and camaraderie for each other during the biggest win in decades. Meanwhile, progressive Twitter trolls, who couldn’t find a hockey rink if it was at their local Whole Foods, attacked a proud hockey mom for refusing to play their political games. There’s a reason everyday Americans are sick of woke busybodies speaking for them—they just don’t get it.
America just had its most iconic Winter Olympics moment in 40 years, and all the Left can do is pout. Rather than reveling in the glory of real sportsmanship, they fixate on inventing new reasons to be offended. The Hughes family proved you don’t have to sign up for leftist groupthink to love this country—or your kids. Maybe if liberals spent less time online and more time in the stands, they’d remember what patriotism looks like. Until then, let the rest of us celebrate real American winners. Maybe the Left should try joining the team for once—if they ever decide what country they’re actually cheering for.
