The Democrats picked their brand-new Virginia governor to deliver their response to President Trump, but the only thing she delivered was more of the same: higher taxes, open borders, leftist pandering, and empty applause in a mostly vacant room. That’s what happens when you put a political lightweight at center stage and try to pass it off as leadership.
Spanberger’s short time as governor has already been a disaster for Virginia families. Democrats, with Spanberger at the helm, dropped a blizzard of new taxes on everyone from regular workers to small business owners—taxes on food delivery, gym memberships, and even walking your dog. Thanks to her anti-business policies, companies like Boeing are fleeing the state before she’s even warmed up her desk. It’s no wonder Democrats can’t decide on a venue for their own events—they’re too busy chasing away anyone with common sense.
Even her speech was a mess. The optics were painful: Spanberger gave her rebuttal at Colonial Williamsburg, standing in a cavernous space with hardly anyone there. The “applause” was so weak and staged, you could practically hear the crickets. She stumbled through teleprompter glitches, but it didn’t matter, because all she could offer were dishonest talking points. She tried to dodge blame for the crushing tax hikes and conveniently ignored the truth about her reckless immigration stances. All this from the same lawmaker who voted against securing the border, fought for amnesty for millions of illegals, and openly undermined President Trump’s efforts to keep America safe.
Let’s talk about crime while we’re at it. Spanberger’s been a champion for the “defund the police” crowd, raking in big bucks from radical anti-cop organizations and even marching with groups who claim law enforcement doesn’t protect us. Meanwhile, she turns around and lectures Americans on safety and crime, while pushing open border policies that make every community less secure. That’s liberal hypocrisy in action.
It gets even worse: Spanberger promotes expensive “green energy” schemes and rushed Virginia back into globalist environmental pacts. The result? Sky-high utility bills for families, lost jobs, and more government bureaucrats in everyone’s lives. And when it comes to protecting parental rights, she sides with radical gender ideologues every time—making it easier for schools to hide life-altering decisions from parents, and fighting common-sense laws that keep biological men out of women’s sports and locker rooms. The left loves to call President Trump divisive, but it’s Spanberger and her cronies who try to tear parents away from their kids and rewrite the meaning of family.
While she tries—badly—to wrap herself in the American flag and the language of our founding, nobody’s buying it. The left’s hatred for America’s heritage runs deep, with Democrats attacking our history and our Constitution at every turn. Spanberger’s failed performance is what happens when out-of-touch elites try to lecture the very people they’ve spent years undermining. The only thing more empty than her applause lines is the Democrat agenda itself. How much more of this liberal nonsense are voters supposed to take?
