While most Americans watched the State of the Union with pride, cheering on our heroic military medal recipients, the Democrats couldn’t muster a shred of respect. Instead, they put their ugly partisan games on full display—again. Illinois’s own Rep. Robin Kelly, showing just how out-of-touch the Left has become, chose to make fun of the ceremony honoring true American heroes. She compared it to some tacky awards show, as if the sacrifices of soldiers and first responders are just another reality TV stunt.
Take a good look at who the President honored. There was Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover, leading his fellow troops in moments of life-or-death decision-making, and Navy Fighter Pilot Royce Williams, somehow still alive and kicking at 100 years old after serving courageously in Korea. Both received the Congressional Medal of Honor—a historic first for any State of the Union address. Then there was National Guardsman Andrew Wolfe, who nearly lost his life protecting citizens in Washington D.C. The man took a bullet, is still recovering, but found the strength to attend with his mother watching on. The parents of Sarah Beckstrom, who tragically died alongside Wolfe, accepted her Purple Heart as the nation grieved alongside them.
And yet, in the face of such bravery and sacrifice, what do leftist politicians do? They sneer, they whine, and they walk out early. Robin Kelly and her pals showed they care more about cheap political points than the flesh-and-blood Americans who pay the price for their freedom. They laugh at medals and mock the courage it takes to wear the uniform. Does anyone really believe these Democrats understand sacrifice—let alone honor it?
It gets worse. While our heroes stand tall, risking everything, the Democratic Party finds it easier to ridicule than to respect. That includes comparing the solemn presentation of medals for valor to a game show give-away. This isn’t about showmanship or headlines—it’s about valor, pain, loss, and true service. The Left cannot stand to see a president putting Americans, and especially our military, first. Their deep-seated hatred for Trump blinds them to even the most basic decency.
Just remember, next time someone tries to tell you the Democrats care about America, recall how their leaders behave when the spotlight is on real, selfless service. If honoring our bravest is a punchline to their joke, maybe it’s time America stopped laughing and started voting them out.
