Once again, the liberal powers in Annapolis are bending over backward to shield illegal immigrants, and hardworking Maryland sheriffs have had enough. Instead of backing the men and women who keep us safe, lawmakers are obsessed with passing anti-ICE laws that handcuff law enforcement and put Maryland families at risk. It’s no wonder sheriffs across the state are fuming—someone has to say what nobody in the statehouse wants to hear: these radical policies are dangerous and downright un-American.
Let’s be clear. These new anti-ICE moves don’t actually protect anyone, except criminals who shouldn’t be here in the first place. By blocking federal agents from making arrests in jails, Annapolis politicians are forcing ICE to hunt down dangerous individuals out on our streets. That means violent offenders will be loose in our communities, hiding near schools, parks, and neighborhoods, all because some politicians want to score points with open-border extremists.
Liberals love to preach about “public safety.” But how safe are Marylanders when the state government refuses to cooperate with the very agencies designed to stop crime? This is hypocrisy at its finest. These same leftists who scream about “gun violence” or “policing reform” have zero problem turning neighborhoods into dumping grounds for criminals caught and released, just because they crossed the border illegally.
What’s really behind this open-door nonsense? It’s globalist interests and anti-American ideology, plain and simple. Instead of standing up for citizens who follow the law, Annapolis bows down to activist groups and DC elites who want to erase our borders and destroy local law enforcement. This is what happens when elected officials care more about optics and re-election than the safety of their own people.
Law enforcement officers signed up to protect their communities, not babysit bureaucrats obsessed with political correctness. Every time they stand up and blow the whistle on these reckless policies, we should listen—not scoff. Why should sheriffs be forced to clean up Annapolis’ mess, while politicians pat themselves on the back for “progress”? Maybe the real question is this: will Maryland choose safety, or continue this suicidal march toward lawless chaos?
