NYC Taxpayers Slammed as Mayor Mamdani’s Spending Spree Sends Welfare Costs Soaring

New York City has a spending problem, and it’s only getting worse. The so-called “crisis” that Mayor Zohran Mamdani keeps crying about isn’t a lack of money—it’s his reckless spending spree on bloated welfare handouts. The numbers don’t lie. Since the pandemic, the city’s social-service spending has exploded by a jaw-dropping 50%. Instead of tightening belts and demanding accountability, liberals like Mamdani just want to grab more cash from hardworking taxpayers.

Tax hikes are every left-winger’s favorite solution. Whenever progressives run out of money, they reach straight into your pocket. While families struggle with inflation and a shaky economy, Mamdani’s answer is to punish them further by jacking up taxes. He ignores the obvious reality staring everyone in the face: The city is broke because it spends wildly and refuses to rein in its welfare machine.

Let’s call this what it is—liberal incompetence at its worst. Instead of fixing the leaks in the boat, they want to make the boat bigger and heavier. They have no problem ladling out billions for programs that breed government dependence and stifle ambition. Meanwhile, small businesses and citizens are expected to pay for politicians’ failed policies.

This isn’t just mismanagement—it’s hypocrisy. These same leftists who scream about the “rich not paying their fair share” are fine with doling out endless freebies, creating more government dependency, and ignoring the long-term damage to the city’s economy. They hide behind virtue-signaling and empty words while regular New Yorkers foot the bill for their reckless spending habits.

Before asking the rest of us for one more dime, it’s time for Mamdani and his progressive pals to take some responsibility. Trim the fat, cut the waste, and start acting like adults. New York doesn’t need more taxes—it needs leaders with backbone. How much more can taxpayers take before they finally say “enough”?
