Millions of brave Iranians once fled their own homeland, running from the iron fist of radical mullahs who stole their freedoms in 1979. Where did families desperate for liberty go? They stormed to the United States, especially right here in Southern California. “Tehrangeles” became a beacon for those who wanted to actual live their lives without fear of a barking theocrat dictating how they eat, work, or worship.
Today, something truly revealing unfolded. On the streets of Tehrangeles, Iranian Americans came out to celebrate after the United States hammered back at the forces of evil. It was loud. These are people who know tyranny firsthand — they don’t just read about it in textbooks or watch it on Netflix. When America stands up to religious dictators who threaten peace and snuff out freedom, they feel it in their hearts. That’s the immigrant vision liberals always talk about — except here, it’s real, not just some useful talking point.
Meanwhile, California’s very own Gavin Newsom is sulking. Why? Because it’s not enough to take a stand against our enemies — oh no, his feelings got bruised. Instead of cheering for Americans and immigrants finally seeing justice, Democrat politicians are tripping over themselves to sound “nuanced.” Translation: They’re afraid of hurting the feelings of tyrants and anti-American activists back home. They tie themselves in knots trying to appease lobbyists, globalist elites, and leftist radicals who’d rather coddle Iran than side with the freedom-loving people on our streets.
Let’s not pretend this is new. The left’s obsession with appeasement over action is why so many oppressive regimes still have power. They’ve made a business out of selling American strength for a few seconds of applause at European cocktail parties. Meanwhile, neighborhoods packed with people who suffered under real oppression are waving American flags and cheering U.S. resolve. Who should we listen to — the pampered billionaires in Sacramento, or the working families who actually lived through the nightmare of the Islamic Revolution?
This contrast is everything. While Newsom and his cronies fuss about their public image, the real America was out in force in Tehrangeles. Ordinary people — immigrants, patriots, dreamers — dancing in the street, finally feeling pride that their adopted country took a stand against evil. Liberals say they love immigrants, but they sure hate it when immigrants celebrate American strength. Maybe it’s their own weakness that’s getting exposed.
So here’s the question Gavin Newsom and every other hand-wringing Democrat must answer: When freedom wins and tyrants lose, whose side are you really on?
