The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has officially lost the thread. They’re begging the Supreme Court to call President Trump’s order ending birthright citizenship “unconstitutional” and even labeling it “immoral.” Apparently, protecting the so-called “God-given dignity” of people who broke our immigration laws is now their number one priority. What a joke.
It seems these bishops have amnesia about their own doctrine. The Catholic Catechism actually says, loud and clear, that nations should welcome foreigners only as much as they are able — and that immigrants must obey the laws of the land that takes them in. America is flat broke. Our debt is in the trillions, welfare programs are buckling, and a big chunk of that fraud comes straight from illegal immigrants. The federal government has pampered these rule breakers for years while ignoring the working-class Americans left holding the bill.
Instead of focusing on the hardworking people who keep this country afloat, our leaders — and yes, these bishops — want to roll out the red carpet for anyone who sneaks across the border. They won’t even ask migrants to learn English or respect American culture. Try waving a foreign flag at a protest in any other nation, and see how far you’d get. Meanwhile, globalist politicians like Ilhan Omar love to remind us their loyalties lie elsewhere, not with the country that gave them prosperity and safety.
Let’s be honest: Birthright citizenship is ridiculous. In most countries, you don’t give birth on foreign soil and get handed citizenship like a party favor. The Vatican, the bishops’ own turf, has one of the strictest border policies in the world. They’d never tolerate this kind of chaos. Birthright citizenship in America was supposed to fix wrongs done to slaves’ children, not grant instant citizenship to anyone lucky enough to cross the border in time to deliver a baby.
Here’s what gets ignored: Angel Families, the mothers and fathers who lost loved ones to illegal alien crime. Where were the bishops when these families needed support? They never file court briefs to protect Americans killed or hurt by illegal immigration. Maybe the real reason is the millions of federal dollars they get for resettling migrants. It’s enough to make you wonder where their loyalty really lies.
Maybe the bishops should spend less time grandstanding and more time meeting the victims of their own policies. They ought to look Laken Riley’s mother or Rachel Morin’s family in the eye and tell them that “dignity” means their daughters have to die. Don’t hold your breath. These so-called moral leaders are more concerned with political points than with defending America, its laws, and its people.
How much longer will Americans tolerate elites who put foreign criminals ahead of law-abiding citizens? Maybe it’s time we remind them who this country belongs to.
