For years, living in blue strongholds has meant feeling like an outsider in my own country. No matter how hard I work, vote, or pay taxes, I keep ending up represented by far-left politicians who barely pretend to care what conservatives like me think. And let’s be honest—the lineup of progressives in Congress lately is more like a parade of failed ideas than actual leadership. Maxine Waters? Please. Henry Waxman? A career bureaucrat. Ted Lieu? Loves to grandstand but does nothing for working folks. And now, as if we haven’t suffered enough, the latest in a long line of radicals: the late Raúl Grijalva’s daughter, Adelita, who’s cut from the same hard-left cloth.
These are the people making laws that affect real Americans, and yet they only listen to the loudest voices on the activist fringe. Everyday citizens, especially those in red or purple families, hardly get a word in edgewise. When the radicals talk about “representation,” what they really mean is ruling over anybody who disagrees. They’ve spent years ignoring common sense, pushing policies that bleed taxpayers dry, and acting like anyone who questions them is some kind of enemy of the state.
Here’s where it gets strange—and yes, even a little freaky. For the first time, some of the ballot propositions coming up have me lining up with my progressive neighbors. Isn’t it ironic? After decades of being treated like a pariah, suddenly there are a couple of issues where their far-left crowd and average conservatives both see the problem with corrupt state politics. Maybe the government finally went too far, even for them. Maybe they’re waking up to the disaster of years of unchecked, big-government rule.
Let’s not kid ourselves, though. Just because we might agree on one or two props doesn’t mean the left has learned its lesson. Progressives are all about “equity” until they’re threatened with paying more or losing their favorite perks. They’ll rant about fairness, but the minute common sense cuts into their power, they panic. A few accidental overlaps on the ballot doesn’t erase years of liberal incompetence, reckless spending, and anti-American nonsense.
In the end, even when progressives and conservatives stand shoulder to shoulder on a measure, it’s only because the government has gotten so out-of-control that it’s impossible for even the woke crowd to ignore. What does it say about America when the only thing that can unite us is mutual outrage against a ruling class gone wild? Maybe the establishment should remember: even the sheep eventually notice when the wolves are circling.
