Minnesota has become the latest poster child for liberal incompetence, and Governor Tim Walz just proved exactly why. During a House Oversight hearing, Walz stumbled through basic questions about a crisis that exploded under his watch: billions of taxpayer dollars flushed down the drain due to rampant fraud in state-run social programs. While the people of Minnesota struggle to make ends meet, their own governor can’t even keep track of where their money went — or maybe he just doesn’t want to admit it.
Just look at the numbers. Medicaid fraud alone may have reached as much as $9 billion. That’s half the budget for those programs lost, stolen, or simply left unaccounted for. Meanwhile, the so-called leadership sat back, twiddled their thumbs, and ignored every red flag. Whistleblowers sounded alarms, the evidence piled up, and yet these Democrat officials chose to cover their ears and wave through more waste. All this while everyday Americans are told there’s not enough money for schools, roads, or police.
Nowhere does the liberal failure show more clearly than in the oversight of autism care spending. Back in 2017, Minnesota spent just over $1 million on these programs. Fast forward to 2024, and that number explodes to a jaw-dropping $343 million. That’s a 34,200 percent increase. You’d think a governor in charge of this financial train wreck would at least know these basic facts before sitting down in front of Congress. Instead, Walz fumbled his way through every question, dodging, deflecting, and playing dumb — even as South Carolina’s Nancy Mace spelled it all out for him on national television.
The most infuriating part? Walz tried to weasel out of responsibility at every turn. When pressed on the numbers from 2017, he claimed ignorance because he wasn’t governor yet. But when asked about 2024 — when he was in charge — he still couldn’t answer. This isn’t just bad leadership. It’s willful neglect and a slap in the face to honest taxpayers sick of footing the bill for government screw-ups.
And let’s not forget the reason why these programs have become a magnet for fraud in the first place. As exposed yet again, criminal schemes drove up autism program costs, with recent headlines even detailing a $6 million fraud run by a Somali ringleader billing the state for fake services. What does this say about the priorities of Minnesota’s ruling class? They turn a blind eye to crime, let globalist interests run wild, and then act shocked when the system collapses.
Minnesota deserves better than clueless bureaucrats and Democrat enablers. How many more billions need to disappear before the left finally admits their “trust government” mantra is a lie? Maybe the real math problem in Minnesota is figuring out how many leaders need to be replaced before sanity returns.
