New York’s radical leaders are at it again, this time treating hardworking taxpayers like human ATMs to bankroll benefits for illegal immigrants. State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, along with Governor Kathy Hochul and the mayor, just announced a universal child care program that might as well have a giant “Welcome Mat” for anyone who breaks our immigration laws. Every child in certain districts will get free daycare, from just six weeks old to five years—regardless of whether their parents are here legally. The bill? A staggering $36,500 per kid. That’s $13,000 more than what private child care costs, all funded by citizens who actually follow the laws.
Hochul brags that the state somehow has “surplus funds” to waste, shoveling $73 million into this pilot program that serves only 2,000 kids at the start. They’ll burn through $425 million by 2027, saying it’s because of good budgeting. Only in a blue state is throwing money at people who ignore our rules something to brag about. What these woke leaders really mean is they’ve gotten so used to squeezing taxpayers dry, they don’t know what to do with the cash except hand it over to their favorite new voting bloc.
All you need to get in on this freebie is a New York City address—no need to prove citizenship, legal status, income, or anything responsible. Mamdani and his crew want to turn every social service into a borderless giveaway, all in the name of “equity.” But that generosity is a one-way street: the families who have lived here all their lives, paid their taxes, and played by the rules get to foot the bill for globalist dreams.
Even worse, the rollout happens mostly in low-income and “diverse” neighborhoods, making it look like they care for the poor, while really turning those neighborhoods into magnets for even more illegal migration—and more chaos. Liberals like to pat themselves on the back for being “compassionate,” but ask New Yorkers how compassionate it feels when their roads, schools, and hospitals are packed beyond capacity, and their paychecks keep shrinking.
This is what happens when socialists take the wheel: higher costs, fewer services for actual citizens, and a message to the world that America is open for freeloaders. Where does it end? Maybe the better question is: How much more abuse will taxpayers tolerate before they finally pull the plug on this insanity?
