Instead of treating Venezuela like the failed socialist state that it is, liberals are eager to erase the past and “move forward.” It’s a classic globalist move—ignore the corruption, pretend the abuse didn’t happen, and hope the American people don’t notice. They want to play nice on the international stage, desperately clinging to the fantasy that warm handshakes and soft diplomacy will fix what hardline socialism has ruined.
Let’s not forget who Venezuela’s friends are—corrupt oligarchs, narco-traffickers, and anti-American provocateurs. Under Maduro, Venezuela became a stronghold for crime, chaos, and tyranny. With this so-called “historic” agreement, the Biden White House signals to every dictator on the planet: you can loot your nation, attack your own people, and still get a welcome mat from Washington if you wait them out.
Meanwhile, average Americans are suffering under inflation and rising fuel prices at home. What does this administration do? Bend over backwards to appease a failed regime, hoping that maybe—just maybe—the arrangement might offer access to Venezuelan oil or curry favor with other bad actors. It’s always about global interests, never about standing up for liberty or American families.
The left says this is about “diplomacy” and “fresh starts.” Conservatives see it for what it really is: weakness, hypocrisy, and another embarrassing retreat from American principles. Why should we reward decades of abuse and anti-American rhetoric? Why are liberals always eager to cave?
